Packing and Anticipation

12/8/2014

Anticipation is what keeps me going for months before we leave.  Knowing that your working hard to save for an adventure and a chance to really feel ALIVE!  The world is our playground, it's good to be a DINK (dual income no kids).

Our Itinerary:
Leave Bozeman December 25th at 10:16am (Happy Birthday Mom! Love you.)
Arrive in Chennai India in the state of Tamil Nadu at 11:50pm local time on December 26th

25 hours flying time via Denver, Newark, and Frankfurt.

We like to travel as light as possible.  You ruin your trip pretty quickly if you have to worry about lugging 4 suitcases of stuff around the world.  So we limit ourselves to one small carry on bag each.  You really don't need more stuff to go for 2 months than you do to go for 2 days.

Immunizations, visas, house-sitter, bills paid, woodpile and freezer full, pet food stocked, electronic adapters packed...

One incredibly useful thing we took with us on our last trip to India was a sheet sleeping bag.  You sew the bottom and half way up the sides of two flat sheets.  When you're on a budget in India you can end up in some questionable digs.  You can travel in India on $10 a day, especially with the current exchange rate (61.8 rupees to the $) but we are shooting for $30-40 a day.  So I've got to finish that sleeping bag up before we go.

And there's Christmas cookies to bake.  17 days to go!

    Why We Travel?

-to leave the rat race behind and remind ourselves that we as individuals have value beyond our monetary income (or lack there-of). We are human BEINGS, not human doings.

-to put ourselves outside our comfort zone, which lets us grow.

    -to eat.

-to find new artistic inspiration, and sometimes cool materials.

-to remind ourselves how lucky we are to live in Bozeman.

-to spend time together, playing and dreaming, away from work and responsibility.
