BE-306 Satin Glass Hook and Loop Teardrops
Glassmaking requires tremendous alchemical skill. Adding trace elements to give it color, heating and cooling to give it a certain sheen, and layering different types of glass to create different effects. "Satin Glass" was developed by a Czech glassmaker in the 1860's and it is still made today. The satin glass teardrop-shaped cabochons in these earrings were made in the 1930's. I've set them in fine silver with hook-and-loop style sterling silver earwires. The glass measures 3/4 inch tall with the earwires sticking just slightly above that. They have the most beautiful luster!
