The vintage glass in this barrette is from the 1920's of German make. It's actually 3 pieces: opaque black glass, a ring of fine silver, which surrounds an original rhinestone in the center. This piece of glass is bezel set in fine silver on a hammered pewter barrette that features sterling wire accents and cast pewter droplets. It's 3.5 inches across. This barrette is large enough to hold all my hair at once.
A piece of Czech glass from the 1920's is bezel set in fine silver on a barrette of hammered pewter that features sterling wire details in an Art Nouveau stylized "Wheat" pattern. The barrette back is a french style back measuring 3.5 inches wide, that I've soldered on.
This barrette features a floral molded glass piece in a deep blue color that was made in Japan, after WW2, during the US occupation. It's bezel set in fine silver on a rolled sheet of pewter with sterling wire decoration and cast pewter droplets. Atop the glass are 5 decorative sterling lined cut-outs in an elegant fan shape. The back is a french barrette back 2.5 inches across that I've soldered on.
